SLOW DOWN YOUR HURRY UP
Enjoy the moments. Feel the comfort of lingering in a moment. Slowing down doesn’t mean stuff won’t get done. It will, just without the fluster and with all the calm.
We are all in a hurry, a hurry to get to the finish line. The more one embraces the journey, the higher the probability of reaching a specific destination and the more you’ll value, enjoy and learn from the entire experience. One of the things about the journey is that it reveals a lot about you, what you are and what you believe in. Learning about yourself and realising why you make certain decisions or do certain things can be very enlightening for many people.
For instance, I had always been a destination oriented person. The process never bothered me, but the outcome did. It took a few setbacks for me to understand and realize the substance of the process. I have a lot of goals; both professional and personal. I have certain milestones I want to meet and experiences I want to experience. Nothing is more important than reaching those goals – except everything about how I get there. Because I strongly believe that the path you take to reach your goals is more important than the achievement itself. That’s where the learning and growing takes place.
Destination is short-lived. We have many goals and we achieve them one after the other. Finished school? Move to college. Get a job. Settle. It goes on. The destination changes as we move from one level of life to the other. The journey stays. It adds on to the experiences. We grow, we fight, we loose, we achieve, we learn. In the end no one cares about your success, everyone cares about your success story. That says it all.
